Dr. Mitchell has been my wife's and my doctor since he started in private practice. He has helped raise our kids, took the time to come to my moms home when we placed her in hospice. Has continued to stay up with all the current breakthroughs in medicine. He now takes care of my sister and her family. I would venture to say there is not a better doctor and person in the MDVIP organization.… See more
My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...
- If the physician listens to his patient, 90% of the time, he will be told of the diagnosis.
- Treat the patient, not the labs or the diagnostic studies.
- The best care comes when you care.
- There should be a doctor, who has patients whom he knows and cares for as a Shepherd would guide his flock. Let me lead you to better health and wellness.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Mitchell
Dr. John is the most knowledgeable, honest care giver I have ever known. He fully explains, in layman's terms, whatever a patient's condition is, the treatment plan, and prognosis. Qualities I appreciate as a patient, and as such, I believe in Dr. Mitchell and trust in him.
Dr. John Mitchell had been watching my PSA level for a few years and although the numbers were under the threshold he scheduled a biopsy with a urologist. The urologist was puzzled and asked me why Dr. Mitchell wanted a biopsy with such low numbers? The urologist suggested a ultrasound instead. After some discussion the biopsy was performed and a week later I was told I had a fast growing… See more
Dr. Mitchell has been our family physician for many years. When he joined MDVIP it was a no brainer for us. Of course we joined with him. Our quality of care was excellent and the availability of Dr. Mitchell was outstanding. And then, suddenly, I was hit by a medical condition that was frightening and chronic. Dr. Mitchell joined me in my battle. He was encouraging, supportive and most… See more
My wife and I have been patients of Dr John H Mitchell for 35 years. Doc is one of the smartest people I know, amazingly well informed about most things medical, and able to provide care and information about a wide range of medical issues. I particularly appreciate being able to discuss medical advice from other doctors [specialists] because Doc Mitchell is able to put the proposed treatments… See more
A few years ago I went in for my routine check up, just a normal once a year check up, but something made Dr. Michel take a blood draw for ovarian cancer. Typically this is not a part of your yearly well check but Dr. ran it anyway and My test came back positive for ovarian cancer.
Several test and procedures later it was determined that it was not ovarian cancer but pancreatic cancer… See more

It is critical to have a doctor who is competent, knowledgable and current in medical practice. It is vitally important to have a doctor who also listens, understands, and truly cares about the welfare of his patients. Though desirable, it is unusual to have a doctor who embodies both of these attributes. it is even more unusual to have a doctor whom a patient anticipates visiting because that… See more
